Acceptable Use Policy
The kinds of use that are and are not allowed on Recaran. Incorporated into the Terms of Service.
Last updated June 5, 2026
Draft for transparency — these terms are being finalized with counsel and are not yet a binding agreement. They describe how Recaran works today and may change before general availability.
1. Lawful public-records use only
Recaran is for organizing and pursuing legitimate public-records requests in compliance with the Wisconsin Public Records Law and any other applicable law. You are responsible for the legality and accuracy of what you prepare and send.
2. Prohibited conduct
Do not use Recaran to prepare, send, or pursue requests or communications that are harassing, threatening, fraudulent, defamatory, unlawful, or intended to abuse the public-records process or burden an agency in bad faith.
Do not impersonate others, misrepresent your identity where the law requires accuracy, upload content you do not have the right to store, attempt to breach security or access other users' data, or use the service to violate the rights or privacy of any person.
3. No unlawful requests through paid services
Where Recaran offers to send or mail items on your behalf, we will not knowingly prepare, send, or deliver any request that violates this policy or applicable law. We may decline or stop processing a request that we reasonably believe breaches these terms.
4. Enforcement
We may suspend or terminate access for violations of this policy. Report suspected misuse to [email protected].
This policy is a draft pending finalization with counsel and will be updated before general availability.
